Build Better Paragraphs
A strong paragraph has one main job. It develops one point and shows how that point contributes to the larger response.
A practical structure
Point → Explanation → Evidence or Example → Analysis → Link. Not every paragraph must look identical, but every sentence should help the paragraph do its job.
Evidence needs explanation
A quotation, statistic or example does not explain itself. After using evidence, tell the reader what it demonstrates and why that matters.
Paragraph test
If the paragraph disappeared, what part of your argument would be missing? If the answer is “nothing”, the paragraph needs a clearer purpose.
Practice
Take one paragraph from your draft. Underline the main point and circle the sentence that explains why the evidence matters.
